We help you bring your family to Hungary with expert immigration support and licensed Hungarian attorney assistance throughout the entire process.

What Is the Family Reunification Permit?

A Family Reunification permit allows family members of Hungarian residents, Hungarian citizens, or third-country nationals with valid residence permits to legally join their loved ones in Hungary.

It allows:

  • Spouses to join their partner in Hungary
  • Minor children to reunite with parents
  • Dependent parents to join their adult children
  • Automatic residency for children born in Hungary to permit holders
  • Legal residence with the same validity period as the sponsor’s permit

Important: Not all residence permit types allow family reunification. Some permits require waiting periods before family members can join.

Who This Is For

Spouses & Partners:

  • Legally married spouses of Hungarian citizens
  • Spouses of third-country nationals with valid residence permits
  • Registered partners (including same-sex couples)

Children:

  • Minor children (under 18) of the sponsor
  • Adopted and foster children
  • Stepchildren when the sponsor’s spouse has parental custody
  • Children born in Hungary to third-country national permit holders (automatic eligibility)

Dependent Parents:

  • Parents unable to support themselves financially
  • Parents dependent on their adult child in Hungary
  • Parents of sponsors or their spouses

Other Family Members (Special Cases):

  • Siblings unable to support themselves due to health reasons
  • Ascendant family members with serious health conditions
  • Parents/guardians of unaccompanied refugee minors
  • Family members of refugees (if married before entry to Hungary)
